Aamir Khan

In the midst of demand for apology by pro Sardar Sarovar dam supporters against Bollywood actor AAmir Khan in Gujarat and protests against release of his latest film Fanaa , Aamir Khan on Thursday said he would not retract from his demand for rehabilitation of the people affected by the Narmada project. The film will not be screened in the BJP-ruled Gujarat where cinema hall owners fear vandalism from pro-dam supporters. Asserting that he was not against construction of the dam and wanted people of Gujarat, MP and Maharashtra to have plenty of water, Aamir said at the same time he was also concerned over people who are affected by the project. "Tell me why should I apologise. If I apologise then I will let down those who have lost homes and lands to the dam. I will not backtrack," Aamir said and urged the people of Gujarat to support him on the rehabilitation issue. Aamir said he would continue to voice his views even if it harms his career and business interests. "I am up against a big organisation. I may get crushed eventually but I will not back off," he added.
